Competition Formats

Main Competition

The main competition of the #NYGT society is based on the stableford points collected by the competitors across the year. Traditionalists will be aware that on the professional circuit golfers usually compete against each other over four rounds of golf. We wanted to emulate this during #NYGT but as those hardened amateur golf lovers will know, only three complete rounds take place at the season's finale. This left us with a conundrum, where do we find the other round? Fortunately, our resident accountant and handicap secretary Lewis Winston had the answer; we will take the average stableford score for each players from all official qualifying rounds throughout the season, and this will be the first round score. Therefore, the player who on average plays best across the season starts the season finale in pole position, great drama!

Championship Points

Also known as the "League Cup" of the #NYGT tour, the championship points competition adds an even greater competitive edge to an already hotly contested golfing calendar. The format is simple; for every competitor that a player beats during an official qualifying round, he will score one championship point. So if for example four players play and one player wins outright, he will be awarded three championship points as he beat three other players. Simples!
